Our jungle lodge is easy to reach from Cusco or Lima. This accessibility, plus the fact that Tambopata is home to some of the most biologically diverse rainforest to be found anywhere in the Amazon basin, makes us the best choice for a jungle trip as part of a short Peru vacation.
Understandably, most people who travel to Peru come to our country to see the cultural, historical and archaeological attractions of Cusco and Machu Picchu. Many travelers don’t set aside time to see even a tiny part of the 60% of Peru that is Amazon rainforest, unaware that it is easy to visit the Amazon from Cusco or Lima via regular flights, or after a bus ride to the jungle town of Puerto Maldonado from Cusco.
In Puerto Maldonado, we meet all our guests from the local bus station or airport for the boat journey to our rainforest lodge. Tambopata is a vast protected area of pristine rainforest, home to countless species of plants, and hundreds of species of typical Amazon rainforest animals.
Our Tambopata Ecolodge is situated right at the heart of this wilderness. Unlike other lodges, which are located close to the town of Puerto Maldonado in secondary forest that has been disturbed by human activity, our jungle lodge is 68 kilometers by river from the town, in unspoiled rainforest.
In fact, Our Private Conservation Area and the neighboring Tambopata National Reserve where we operate our jungle trips lie within some of the most pristine and biodiverse areas of rainforest in the whole of South America, and every year the government-protected Tambopata National Reserve sets new world records for biodiversity.
