If, as part of your plan for a Peru vacation, you’re looking for the best places for wildlife spotting in the Amazon rainforest, then Tambopata, where our Tambopata Ecolodge is located, is probably your best choice.
We have been living and working in our own Private Conservation Area, Tambopata National Reserve, and its buffer zone, for more than 30 years, and we probably know as much as anyone about this remote area of Amazon rainforest in southeastern Peru that we call home.
The forests we help to protect from our jungle lodge base are a haven for thousands of species of animals and plants. Guests who come to stay at our eco-lodge can hope to see many iconic Amazon species, from elusive jaguars to brightly-plumaged macaws, during the professionally guided excursions we offer on forest trails, rivers and lakes.
And those travelers who love to see birds should be particularly excited about a jungle stay with us at our lodge. In addition to having the largest concentration of macaw and parrot clay licks found anywhere in South America, Tambopata is home to more than 600 other bird species.
It is the diverse range of ecosystems within our forests that make Tambopata so fauna-rich. Rainforests, palm swamps, lakes and other habitats combine to offer a home to an incredible diversity of animals, birds and insects.
At Tambopata Ecolodge, in your comfortable cabin-style room, you’ll wake up to a symphony of calls made by birds, monkeys, insects and other creatures, spend your days exploring the forests in the company of your expert local guide, and go to sleep at night listening to the sounds created by the nocturnal inhabitants of the Amazon rainforest.
In addition to our role as a tourist lodge, we also play an important role as custodians of the forests we work to protect. So, when you travel to Peru, join us in our jungle home, experience the wonders of the rainforest, and by your presence help us to continue with our conservation work!
