For lovers of the natural world, no Peru vacation is complete without a jungle trip to the world’s biggest rainforest. At our jungle lodge, our guests can spot typical Amazon wildlife, walk in the lush tropical forest surrounding our buildings, and join us on guided trips into Tambopata National Reserve.
The jungle town of Puerto Maldonado is the gateway to the Amazon jungle bordering the Tambopata River, where we built our eco-lodge back in 1991, and where to this day we continue to protect nature and invite the world’s travelers to visit the Amazon rainforest.
From our comfortable jungle eco-lodge, we take our guests to see remote wildlife-rich oxbow lakes, as well as the unique macaw and parrot clay licks that make our area of South America’s Amazon so famous.
Our part of the Peruvian Amazon has Bolivia just to the east and Cusco to the west, and it is our accessible location that makes us the best place to visit the Amazon in Peru, and to do a jungle trip.
During their Peru vacation travelers can fly to Lima, visit Cusco and Machu Picchu –and maybe even walk the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu- and then fly down to us for an Amazon jungle trip. There are regular flights between Lima, Cusco and the town of Puerto Maldonado, where we meet our guests at the airport, and there is even a bus service from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado!
From Puerto Maldonado, we take our guests in our vehicle to the river port, and from there we travel by boat to our eco-lodge, leaving behind the disturbed secondary forest around Puerto Maldonado, and entering the pristine primary rainforest we help to protect, which is filled with Amazon wildlife and plant life that our guests can experience during a 3- or 4-day stay with us.
