No Peru vacation is complete without a jungle trip! The Amazon rainforest covers 60% of Peru’s national territory. And although Peru is a massive country, with a surface area as large as that of the United Kingdom, France and Spain combined, with a good travel plan is it possible to see all Peru’s main tourist attractions, and include a rainforest trip, as part of a 2-week vacation.
If you are planning to visit Peru with your partner, family or friends, by taking domestic flights and booking in advance your activities, you can see all the best places that Peru has to offer, and still have time to relax and enjoy some of Peru’s other unique attractions, such as its globally renowned cuisine.
After flying to Lima, and maybe taking a day to enjoy the Peruvian capital’s great food and to visit one or more of its fine museums (such as the award-winning Larco Museum), we recommend taking a flight to Cusco. Here, in what was once the capital of the Inca empire, there is so much to see and do that you’ll probably wish you had more time. But, for those travelers enjoying a short vacation in Peru, these are the must-see attractions they should plan to visit:
First, the historic center of the city is the best place to stay in Cusco. By choosing a hotel in the center of town, you’ll give yourself the opportunity to enjoy all the main sights on foot, including the cathedral, museums, streets lined with Inca stonework, handcraft stores, and excellent bars and restaurants.
Beyond the city limits, by booking half-day and full-day tours, you’ll also have time to see the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Rainbow Mountain, and some of Cusco’s main archaeological sites. And of course, every traveler who comes to Peru plans to visit Machu Picchu, either by train, or by walking the Inca Trail!
Once you have seen and done all this, you can use three of four days to visit the Amazon rainforest. And that is what makes us so unique at Tambopata Ecolodge. Because we are so easy to get to from Cusco via scheduled flights, travelers can really see and experience the rainforest as part of a 3- or 4-day package with us.
We include everything, from the moment we pick up our guests from Puerto Maldonado airport to take them to our eco-lodge, to the moment they board their flight to Lima, for their connection to their home country. So, if you really want to see everything that Peru has to offer, contact us and ask about how you can add an all-inclusive Amazon jungle trip to your Peru vacation travel plan!
