Peru offers the best protected Amazon rainforest in South America

Peru is home to around 13% of the Amazon rainforest, and within its National Parks and National Reserves its tropical forests are among the most well-protected anywhere in the world. This means that Peru offers travelers the best opportunities to experience the Amazon jungle anywhere on the South American continent.
The Amazon basin is so vast that many travel companies recommend at least one week to explore it properly. But at Tambopata Ecolodge, our location, easily reached from Cusco or Lima by air, means that it is possible to include the Amazon rainforest as part of a 10-day or 2-week complete Peru vacation.

With us, a jungle lodge stay can be enjoyed just by booking a flight from Lima or Cusco to the town of Puerto Maldonado, or even by taking a bus from Cusco! We meet all our guests at the airport or bus station, and then our guides and support team do the rest!
The best way to include a jungle eco-lodge stay with us at Tambopata Ecolodge as part of a short Peru holiday, is to fly to Lima, then to Cusco. In Cusco, you can visit Machu Picchu and other attractions, and then fly directly or take a bus to Puerto Maldonado. Then, once you’ve completed your 3- or 4-day stay with us, we’ll get you back to the airport in Puerto Maldonado, for your flight to Lima and connection to your home country.
