Our Amazon rainforest jungle lodge is situated southwest of the town of Puerto Maldonado, which can be reached easily from Lima or Cusco by air. Our location, here on the Tambopata River, easy to get to but situated in protected primary rainforest rich in Amazon wildlife and plant life, makes us one of the best options in Peru for an immersive jungle trip based at a comfortable and hospitable eco-lodge.
Back in 1991, we built our jungle lodge on the banks of the Tambopata River, and today the rainforest we help to protect forms part of the protective buffer zone surrounding Tambopata National Reserve, where we offer our guests fully guided jungle tours that include river and lake visits, and forest trail walks.
One of the highlights at our lodge is the chance to head out into the rainforest to see macaws and parrots feeding at nearby clay licks, as well the trips we make with our guests to fauna-rich and picture-perfect rainforest lakes, where with a little luck giant river otters can be seen.
To visit the jungle in Peru, with our eco-lodge as your base, you should allow 3 or 4 days as part of your Peru vacation itinerary. Because we can be reached quickly and easily, this is plenty of time to really experience the Amazon rainforest, after visiting Cusco and Machu Picchu, or hiking the Inca Trail, and the perfect way to relax for a few days before flying to Lima, and on to your home country.
At Tambopata Ecolodge, we offer rainforest packages that include airport transfers, all transport, meals, accommodation and professionally guided jungle trips. So, what are you waiting for? Contact us directly, and let us help you add the Amazon rainforest to your Peru vacation plans!
