Our eco-lodge is strategically located to give travelers access to the best that the Amazon basin has to offer. At our Tambopata Ecolodge and Private Conservation Area, conservation-minded travelers can explore the Peruvian Amazon and experience the extraordinary biological diversity of a range of tropical ecosystems.
Our comfortable eco-lodge is ideally situated in one of the most biologically diverse places on Earth, while also being easy to reach from Cusco, the most popular travel destination in South America. Although we are located right in the heart of Peru’s Amazon forests, scheduled flights link our nearest town, Puerto Maldonado, with both Cusco and Peru’s capital, Lima. This means that travelers can combine a Machu Picchu visit or an Inca Trail trek with a 3-, 4- or 5-day trip to spend time with us in the Amazon basin!
We created our eco-lodge more than 30 years ago, at a remote riverside location, around 68 kilometers from Puerto Maldonado, in forests untouched by the human activity that has affected those forests closer to the town. This means that the guests who come to stay with us will experience unspoiled primary forest, filled with typical Amazon animals, trees and plants.
In fact, we are so remote that our nearest neighbor is another area of protected rainforest: our Private Conservation Area is bordered by one of Peru’s most important protected natural areas, the 1000-square-mile Tambopata National Reserve.
It is in Tambopata National Reserve that we offer many of the responsible ecotourism activities included as part of our full-board jungle vacation experiences. Whether you are interested in wildlife watching, nature photography, birdwatching, rainforest camping, trail walking, or simply experiencing the relaxing setting and comforts of a beautifully designed eco-lodge set in the heart of the forest, at Tambopata Ecolodge we have something for you!
In addition to ecoadventure activities in the company of our experienced naturalist guides, we offer our guests comfort and hospitality. Accommodation is provided in stand-alone cabins set in our delightful rainforest gardens, in double-occupancy or triple-occupancy rooms. Hot showers are powered by solar energy, and there are plenty of charging points for electronic devices.
In our dining room, we serve three good meals a day, mostly buffet style and including Peruvian and international food, as well as dishes tailored to the dietary needs of vegetarian and vegan guests. And we also have a spacious bar and lounge area, where after a day spent on forest trails, lakes and rivers, or following a multi-day rainforest camping trip, our guests can share a drink and swap travel tales!
