In Peru, there are three main gateways to the Amazon basin for rainforest ecotourism. For those planning a Peru vacation of just 10 days to 2 or even 3 weeks, the most accessible protected jungle is Tambopata, in the southeast of the country, where our eco-lodge is located.
By flying from Cusco or Lima -or even by just taking the bus from Cusco- to the town of Puerto Maldonado, it is possible to enjoy the Amazon rainforest on one of our all-inclusive ecotourism packages, which begin when we meet our guests from the local airport!
Puerto Maldonado is the gateway to the biodiverse Tambopata National Reserve, which borders our own Private Conservation Area, and provides the setting for many of our fully guided jungle trips.
This enormous National Reserve protects a diverse series of tropical forest ecosystems, including foothill and lowland rainforest, oxbow lakes, wetlands and palm forests, and contains an unsurpassed abundance of plants, insects (including 1200 species of butterflies) and animals (more than 630 species of birds and 169 species of mammals), and the world’s largest macaw clay licks.
So that our guests can get a true sense of what life is like in the Amazon rainforest, and to give them an excellent chance of seeing major species of Amazon wildlife, which often remain hidden in the depths of the forest, at our Tambopata Ecolodge we offer stays of 3, 4 or 5 days, with everything our guests need included (airport transfers by vehicle and boat, accommodation, meals, jungle excursions accompanied by professional guides, etc.).
And we offer our guests these unique experiences all year round, because the rainforest can be visited and enjoyed at any time of year, with different species of plants and animals active in both the dry (May to October) and wet (November to April) seasons.
So, what are you waiting for? If you’ve always wanted to see the Amazon rainforest for yourself, speak to us now, and book your visit to our jungle home!
