What is it like to stay at our jungle eco-lodge?

Following their arrival, our guests all receive a briefing on how best to enjoy the eco-lodge facilities and what they should bear in mind during their time with us deep in the Amazon rainforest of Peru. At our lodge, guests experience nature in its purest form. Our guest cabins, dining room, bar and lounge area and other facilities are surrounded by forest, and the insect-proof screens we use instead of windows mean that the sounds of the Amazon are ever-present, by day and night. This also means that guests need to be careful not to leave food in their rooms, if they don’t want an uninvited visit from an opossum or other rainforest creature!
In spite of our remote location, we are able to offer our guests electricity in the evenings, and the showers in all our cabins are heated using solar panels. However, because we are an ecofriendly destination, sustainability is our priority, and so we ask our guests to use the power supply in a responsible way.
At our Tambopata Ecolodge, the rooms are housed in cabins set apart in the tropical gardens we have created from the rainforest. The main lodge buildings and the cabins are connected by long, open-air walkways. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with two sides composed of mesh screens rather than walls, to provide plenty of ventilation, and to ensure that guests can listen to the sounds of the jungle from their room. Each room has its own terrace, with chairs, a table and hammock for relaxing after each day’s rainforest excursion.
In the mornings, at lunchtime and in the evenings, a buffet featuring local, Peruvian and international dishes is served in our dining room. Wherever possible, we try to use local produce, sustainably sourced from local providers. Peruvian ingredients always take center stage at mealtimes, and these range from the familiar potato to cassava and a selection of tropical fruits.
In addition to set meals, coffee, tea and other beverages are available 24 hours, and we regularly refill the water jugs in every guest room. In fact, everything our guests eat and drink during their time with us is included in their tour price, with the exception of any drinks they might decide to order from our bar.
All the ecoadventure activities we offer are included as part of our guests’ stay. Excursions are guided by professional naturalists, and group size on forest trails is limited, out of respect for wildlife and also to give our guests the very best chance of spotting undisturbed rainforest fauna. We offer daytime excursions that include trail walks and boat trips, as well as nighttime experiences during which animals such as caimans can be seen, and the many and varied sounds of other nocturnal animals enjoyed.
