There are many ways to visit the Amazon rainforests of South America, for travelers on vacation in the continent. Many South American countries can boast areas of tropical forest filled with animals and plant life. Jungle trip options include river cruises and hotel or lodge-based tours and packages.
Here in Peru, we offer what are probably the best options available anywhere in South America to see and experience the Amazon rainforest. What makes us the best way to visit the Amazon jungle? There are many reasons to choose a jungle trip in Peru, rather than elsewhere in Central America or South America.
Our Tambopata Ecolodge is situated in protected primary Amazon rainforest in southeastern Peru. The area of forest we help to protect is bordered by Brazil and Bolivia. This is a remote location, far from the world most people inhabit. The nearest town to our eco-lodge is Puerto Maldonado, and that is 68 kilometers away by river.
But this extraordinary location we chose more than 30 years ago as the ideal place to build our rainforest lodge is also incredibly easy to reach. Regular flights from Cusco and Lima mean that our guests can plan a jungle trip as part of a short Peru vacation, knowing that it takes just hours, rather than days (as in the case of Manu National Park) to get to us, deep in the rainforest. Our accessibility means that travelers can be sure of seeing and truly experiencing the animal and plant life of the Amazon basin during one of our all-inclusive 4-day or 3-day rainforest packages.
And at Tambopata Ecolodge, when we say “all-inclusive”, we really mean “all-inclusive”! We meet all our guests from the airport or bus station in Puerto Maldonado. After a quick stop at our office in town to brief our guests, we head for the river. Our boat takes our guests to our comfortable lodge, where accommodation, meals and guided excursions are all included as part of the service we offer. And when our guests leave us, we make sure they get back to Puerto Maldonado in good time for their onward travel plans!
