Our Tambopata Ecolodge is located on the edge of Tambopata National Reserve, in southeastern Peru. Our jungle home is a place where comfort and nature are combined beautifully. We pride ourselves on our attention to detail and service.
Accompanied by our expert naturalist guides, as part of their all-inclusive ecotourism itinerary our guests are invited to venture out from the lodge to experience the jungle in its purest form. By day and in the evenings after dark, our excursions include trail walks and boat trips on rivers and lakes. As part of an even more immersive experience, we also offer those guests who want to get deeper into the Amazon basin the opportunity to camp with us for one or two nights in the rainforest.
During our excursions, our professional guides help guests to discover plants and trees, look for animals, birds and insects, and tune in to the sounds of the jungle. Our guides take our guests to every corner of the forests that are our home, to explore the Amazon rainforest of Peru.
Tambopata National Reserve, where we offer many of our ecoadventure activities, is situated within easy reach by air or overland from Cusco, and protects 274,690 hectares of lowland Amazon forest, including eight distinct and fauna-rich ecosystems. The jungle town of Puerto Maldonado is the gateway to this jungle adventure.
This remote protected area is considered by scientists to be among the most biodiverse places on Earth. Thousands of plants and animals have been identified and studied, including 1200 species of butterflies, more than 600 species of birds, 100 species of mammals, 180 species of fish, 100 species of reptiles, and more than 1200 different trees and plants. This is a truly special place to spend time!
From our Tambopata Ecolodge main office in the town of Puerto Maldonado, after we meet them from the local airport or bus station, our guests travel with us to the river port. Here, we board a boat for the journey to our remote rainforest location. This boat trip is a nature excursion in itself, offering our guests the chance to spot caimans, monkeys, turtles, capybaras and birds along the way, and to appreciate as they relax the beauty of the Amazon rainforest.
We established our Tambopata Ecolodge and began to protect the forests that now form part of our Private Conservation Area, a full four years before our giant neighbor, Tambopata National Reserve, was granted official reserve status in 1996.
Our eco-lodge is beautifully located on the banks of the Tambopata River, nestled in the forest and surrounded by the tropical gardens we have created. We offer our guests excellent meals in our spacious dining room, a bar and lounge area for relaxation, and a choice of cabins accessed via walkways from our main buildings. Without leaving the lodge, it is possible to observe birds and monkeys in the trees above, and the sounds of the forest accompany our guests by both day and night!
