While Iquitos is the most popular Amazon tourism destination in South America, the best place to experience Amazon rainforest untainted by mass tourism is Tambopata, where our own Tambopata Ecolodge is located.
Located in southeastern Peru, in government-protected rainforest, Tambopata National Reserve offers a more authentic Amazon excursion experience. At Tambopata Ecolodge, our goal is to protect the Amazon’s animals, trees and plants, and to allow nature to flourish undisturbed. That is why we have not built any towers or canopy walks, leaving monkeys, birds and other animals to roam the treetops unhindered.
At Tambopata Ecolodge, we offer Amazon rainforest packages that respect the rainforest and give our guests the best possible introduction to the Amazon basin, enabling them to get a real feel for life in the Peruvian Amazon.
And because we live and work in an area of strictly protected forest, we do not offer our guests fishing or kayaking experiences. All our nature-friendly ecotourism activities are focused on helping our guests to experience and enjoy unspoiled rainforest habitat, and to see and photograph the animals that live here with us, in the company of one of our expert local naturalist guides.
Our guided rainforest excursions include trail walks through the rainforest, boat trips on rivers, and canoe trips on lakes. And all the guided trips included in our ecotourism packages are made in small groups, to ensure that animals remain undisturbed, and that our guests get the best chances to observe them in their natural habitat, as they interact with each other and with the surrounding tropical forest.
And back at our jungle lodge base, in their downtime our guests can enjoy our excellent lodge facilities, the good food served in our dining room, their comfortable cabin-like rooms, and our bar and lounge, where we serve a range of drinks and travelers from all over the world can meet and compare adventures.
